Right hemisphere dominance in arousal induced by facilitating positions.

چکیده
To clarify whether there is left-right difference in arousal induced by position changes, vocal reaction times (RTs) were measured at three different positions of the arms for 10 normal subjects. RTs at the facilitating position of either arm were faster than RTs at the neutral position, and RTs at the facilitating position of the left arm were faster than those of the right. The results indicate that the left facilitating position is more effective for increasing arousal than the right one.

Individual Differences in Automatic Emotion Regulation Affect the Asymmetry of the LPP Component
The main goal of this study was to investigate how automatic emotion regulation altered the hemispheric asymmetry of ERPs elicited by emotion processing. We examined the effect of individual differences in automatic emotion regulation on the late positive potential (LPP) when participants were viewing blocks of positive high arousal, positive low arousal, negative high arousal and negative low ...
متن کاملThe head turn paradigm to assess auditory laterality in cats: influence of ear position and repeated sound presentation
In most humans, speech is predominantly processed by the left hemisphere. This auditory laterality was formerly thought to be an exclusive human characteristic, but is now suggested to have pre-human origins. In studies on auditory laterality in nonhuman animals, the head turn paradigm has become very popular due to its non-invasive character. Although there are implications that the head turn ...
متن کاملRight Hemisphere Language Dominance in a Right-Handed Patient with Late-Onset Seizures.
Right hemisphere language dominance is rare in right-handed individuals and usually the result of language transfer associated with early left hemisphere pathology. We studied a 33-year-old right-handed man, with a normal MRI scan, who developed left frontal lobe seizures at age 15 years. Language lateralization testing by intracarotid amobarbital injection and dichotic listening showed the pat...
متن کاملTime-dependent cortical asymmetries induced by emotional arousal: EEG analysis of event-related synchronization and desynchronization in individually defined frequency bands.
Event-related desynchronization (ERD) and synchronization (ERS) in the individually defined theta, alpha-1, alpha-2 and alpha-3 frequency bands were measured in 20 healthy subjects in response to International Affective Picture System (IAPS) stimuli with low, moderate and high arousal (LA, MA and HA) content. The 62-channel EEG, skin conductance response (SCR) and heart rate (HR) were simultane...
متن کاملSpatial neglect and attention networks.
Unilateral spatial neglect is a common neurological syndrome following predominantly right hemisphere injuries and is characterized by both spatial and non-spatial deficits. Core spatial deficits involve mechanisms for saliency coding, spatial attention, and short-term memory and occur in conjunction with nonspatial deficits that involve reorienting, target detection, and arousal/vigilance. We ...
